About Us

Women Service Institute (WSI), Nepal is a non-governmental organization registered in the District Administration Office, Lalitpur with the purpose of uplifting the social, political and economic status of women. Together with an experienced, professional, vibrant and inclusive team, it works to transform the lives of women and girls in Nepal.

WSI, Nepal supports women leadership in diverse streams and areas mostly in the field of entrepreneurship, development and democracy. The key working areas of the organisations include: human rights, democracy, sustainable development, entrepreneurship, health, training, environment or climate justice etc.

Mission

WSI, Nepal works in partnership approach to transform the lives of women and girls for a just society, where they will have the opportunities, realize aspirations and achieve their potential.

Objectives

WSI, Nepal will be a non-profit, public benefit non-government organization. The reason behind registering the institution are as bellow:

  • To ensure women’s participation in the policy/decision making and implementation level for the protection and promotion of the rights of women of all age groups (girls, youth and seniors), and advocate on related issues along with providing legal consultation,
  • To conduct various programs to increase the participation of women in political and public services,
  • To carry out studies and conduct researches on women’s issues, and organize programs connecting to national goals and plans,
  • To publicize and promote national policies and programs,
  • To organize programs to rescue and rehabilitate women affected by violence, conflicts, etc., to maintain peace and social harmony, to provide legal consultation and assistance regarding women’s participation, health, education, and security,
  • To organize programs in cooperation with men on women’s issue to sustain social harmony,
  • To take initiatives for the inclusion of the economically, socially and culturally marginalized communities, and advocate to ensure their human rights,
  • To carry out various programs at the local level to support the efforts of government of Nepal in achieving sustainable development goals, while implementing the National Action Plan for climate change, human rights, and the United Nations’ Security Council’s resolution  1325 and 1820 effectively,
  • To conduct entrepreneurship, financial literacy and other capacity building trainings to support women’s economic empowerment,
  • To organize various programs by strengthening the role of women in the protection and mobilization of resources related to water, land and forest,
  • To mobilize young women to reduce and resolve existing challenges in society including disaster management, environmental protection, discrimination, untouchability, drug addiction etc,
  • To support women involved in tourism
  • To launch specific programs for child development, child welfare and child protection.
